frances f. morast walk to beat ovarian cancer
Put together by Karla Morast Psaros in memory of her mother, Frances Morast, the Walk to Beat Ovarian Cancer is an annual event that takes place in September in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Frances was a schoolteacher in Bridgewater and lived in the town for most of her life. She was very active in the community, serving on the town board and was always fundraising for the school system. She was very well-known in the community and was loved by her students. Frances lost her battle with ovarian cancer in September 2007.
When Karla contacted Ovations, she wanted the money raised by this three-mile walk to benefit research for ovarian cancer and raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease. The walk has been a huge success over the past few years, raising over $93,000!

lois e. (girard) strand memorial golf tournament
Now in its fourth consecutive year, the Lois E. (Girard) Strand Memorial Golf Tournament raises funds for ovarian cancer research and awareness. Lois E. (Girard) Strand passed away in July 2007 from ovarian cancer, and her courage and strength were something to be proud of. Each year, a local country club graciously provides us with a great course and excellent food to help commemorate Lois's memory and give back to the community.
